Grow a plant in an egg! Wednesday 8th April 2009 Filed under What Present To Buy For Easter Here's a perfect original Easter gift, guaranteed not only to delight the lucky recipient but also it won't rot their teeth or bring them out in spots two days later either. Egglings are ceramic eggs, filled not with sweets or chocolate but instead with fortified peat and seeds. They are also incredibly easy to cultivate. Simply crack open the top of the egg by tapping it with a spoon, place the Eggling on its terracotta drip tray, add water to the pre-sown fortified peat mixture and place it in a bright spot. The Eggling contains nutrients to support the plants (basil or Lavender de Provence) for five months, after which it can be planted in a larger pot. But that's not the end of the Eggling, because after transplanting you can smash the shell and add it to the surrounding soil as fertiliser. Ingenious! The Eggling is available online for £6.99 more details |
